Any ideas!!!!

Hi i did post a thread the other day re:new puppy and bailey being too rough with her but just wanted any ideas on how i can stop them constantly playing rough. Its not just Bailey being boustrous its also new puppy, as we call Bailey away she runs at him to start the whole thing again. Its like having 2 naughty kids and i have to sit with one either side to stop them or slow them downxx

Re: Any ideas!!!!

Personally as long as they are not hurting each other I would leave them to get on with it. They are just finding their position in the pecking order. One thing I will say is though for every 5 mins they play with each other you need to play for 15 mins with them individually. This will let them see you are the boss.

Re: Any ideas!!!!

hen we bought Lilly home she weighed less than our guineapig and I used to worry all the time. I spoke to the instructor at our puppy class and she advised as long as there is no crying/yelping or blood leave them to it and just keep an eye on them.
We have never had any of these things happen and 3 months on they still play rough and tumble.
I do interrupt their play frequently (with treats or toys) just to get their attention back onto me then release them to play again so they listen out on walks etc

Re:Ideas for stop your puppy from hurting people

The first step is to stop your puppy from hurting people: to teach him to inhibit the force of his play-bites. Physical punishments are certainly not called for. But it is essential to let your puppy know that bites can hurt. A simple "Ouch!" is usually sufficient. When the puppy backs off, take a short time-out to "lick your wounds," instruct your pup to come, sit, and lie down to apologize and make up and then, resume playing.
