Hi,i'm new to this forum and am trying to get a few bits of info on these lovely little pooches. Firstly do you need to shave them or are they like the sphynx,come in varying amounts of nakedness? Do they make nice family pets?

If Im Right There Are 2 Kinds Of Chinese Cresteds - One With Quite Alot Of 'Nakedness' And A Powder Puff Variety With Not Much Nakedness

They Are Naturally Bald I Belive Like Sphynx Cats . But There Not My Breed So I Dont Know A Whole Lot About Them - Temperment And Everything .. , But There Are A Few People Who Own Chinese Cresteds On Here I Think

I own Cresteds. Due to the hairless Incomplete Dominant Gene you get varies degrees of Hairlessness. They make great Pets as long as well enough socialised as Pups and you know the Breeding Lines behind the Pup you buy

i have heard for showing some are shaved ,but myfriend has a hairy one whoes a great character as a pet,she quacks pml

Yes most are nowadays as the trend seems to be Flashy, full Crested Cresties There are not many True Cresteds in the ring.

i own cresties to and i think they are fab dogs, great little personalities and so much fun they make me laugh everyday,

When you said about full crested cresties what did you mean? Don't jump on me for asking such a silly question but i really don't know much about them.Where would you start looking for a very bald one,but just as a pet not for showing. What is a true crested also

it sounds to me like you are looking for a true hairless, which is one with as little hair as poss as with any breed you have to look for a breeder in your area or as far as you want to travel, obviously one that has a good rep is best,

you can get a hairless that has a shading of hair all over there bodies to and some just have it say down there legs or back but a true hairless can have no hair at all or again just a tuffed on the head, the powder puffs are a full coated type of crestie with a fine under coat and a top coat,

Nici has answered your question. True Hairless are born alongside varying degrees of Hairy in the same litter. Do your homework, ask all the right questions if buying and do not let your heart rule your head when looking for a Pup
