What area are you in Mootie? When looking at pups a good Crested Breeder should tell you how hairy they are. I have heard some stories as in new owner gets their pup home and withing a week it is covered in fine hair and not totally bald, unfortunately people can be fooled in to believeing they have a True Hairless only to find its a Hairy and then they sell them on There are a few like this IMO on Epupz at moment. Cresteds are very loyal little dogs and sensitive at times so rehoming can upset them
If someone is looking for one of my Pups I always show them pics from day 1 right through and try and leave a hairy unshaved a few weeks before they collect so that I can show them how to groom and how hairy their pup could be.

always view mum and if poss dad with the pups in house is imo a better way to be bred rather than a kennel, the breeder should no all about the breed and give you lots of info , they will also of had health checks done so you would want to see those, i would never go to a pet shop or a farm for a pup as i believe home grown is best, if i have left anything out im sure others will say

Ask lots of questions as well. If you have done your Homework on a Breed you are interested in it is easier to ask the right questions

Re: chinese crested questions

Thanks again for all your help.I have been reading lots about them, and they seem fab little dogs. do you breed them clueless?
I have read stories of people buying them and then they grow all this hair when the breeder has said they wouldn't! I see they are petite dogs, are they in comparison to an italian greyhound size?

Yes I breed them Mootie and yes they are Fab little dogs I posted re Breeders giving you correct info re how hairy some Pups can be, unfortunately Breeders cannot control how hairy or bald a litter will be eg Mate 2 True Hairless does not mean you will get a litter of totally True Pups.
They come in 2 Body types Deer and Cobby, although nowadays its mostly a mix of them, which has inproved the confirmation of the dogs today from years ago.Deer type is more petite looking.
They are smaller in height and length than an IG well they should be
