I've got a panasonic (it was 1/2 price in the sale a couple of years ago) and so far it's been really good. Doesn't get clogged up with the hair, big bagless cylinder so doesn't need emptying every few minutes like my mums does, washable filters so I don't have to buy new ones.

Ours used to not pick up but spit out despite it not being clogged

we bought a samsung at half price from argos and it collapsd after a month, 3 samsungs later (and 4 months!) we bought an animal.
