Why did you buy a Non KC dog

Hi I do not want a slangin match, but thought I would like to know the answer from people on here with Non KC Reg dogs, note not crossbreeds.

Any members with Pedigree Dogs but Non KC Reg. Why did you buy the dog/ dogs?

Re: Why did you buy a Non KC dog

i have merlin a utonagan an non kc reg breed, but i know all his bred line way way back for years on end, so as long as his breeder said was ok, he can breed and when she has checked a females lines and all the health checks have been done, i would let him breed.
as im new to this breed i wouldnt put him to any other unless on her say so, as she knows the lines etc

Great Carol. As you say the Utonagon is unrecognised as yet by KC but sounds like you will be breeding to Breed type.
I started this one as I always wondered why buy a Non KC Reg Pedigree dog when you could have a KC Reg one for same price in most cases IMO

Re: Why did you buy a Non KC dog

ok heres my honest answer...and as you said no slanging matches...kc reg to me isnt worth the paper its written on....gmtv proved that last week i think it was. talking about puppy farms. i honestly believe the kc. should sort its priorities out...when i got kai it didnt bother me that he was'nt kc reg..as i've said in the other post, mia has some of kai's bloodline....now that side of breeding i'm finding very interesting....ie.why would kai be that much bigger than mia,but as was pointed out to me today, perhaps he was the runt of the litter...pmsl now i know he was
just like to add....these are still forum members pets..so keep the thread nice

so they dont get spoiled by the kc like some other breeds have,
huskys are getting smaller, gsd standards change etc they keep changing the breed standards to much.

Re: Why did you buy a Non KC dog

I have a wsd who is not KC breed registered, if she was she'd be a border collie. I chose her because I wanted a dog to work in working trials competition, she was a strong healthy pup and she has turned out to be a brilliant dog.

Why i didn't get a KC reg dog, if you want a collie there are 2 main sources, show breeding or farm bred, there are also a limited number of pups available each year that are work bred and also KC reg, my husband has one of those, and others that are work bred, but not KC reg. but are bred from because of their working ability.

I didn't want a show bred, because they often lack the necessary drives I wanted, weren't any work bred ones around at the time, so went for a farm bred, would I do it again, absolutely, would I breed from her, no, but thats more to do with her being to precious to loose, than not being registered.
