What do you mean by that? The breeder should register them with the KC not you.

Oh and I have a Staffy who is non KC or so I think as she came from a rescue centre.

Do you mean you decided not to transfer the onwership into your name? Whether dogs are KC reg is up to the breeders to reg. them, not the new owners.

Whilst KC is not the be all and end all, it is a good starting point. I cannto see any good reason why a dog is not KC reg. Unless, of course, it is a breed that isn't yet KC recognised, but I find even that dubious, to be honest.

I still can see no reason to buy a non KC reg dog of a KC recognised breed. Even after reading this thread.

Re: Why did you buy a Non KC dog

awww jackson you must have never read up on parson russells ,they have only been registered for less than 30 years ,and there are still many kennells out there that refused to register with the kc ,but are still going strong with line bred stock ,i have unregistered dogs ,that can be easily traced back 60 years or more just by there looks and the old terrier men recouldnising them to the lines they came from ,and i also keep kc dogs

Re: Why did you buy a Non KC dog

I feel that no one on the thread has any real reasons why!!!
Some who have answered have KC and Non KC but condemn the KC
I was just trying to understand why people would rather buy Non KC
Example--- 2 adverts for same breed, you visit both breeders, like what you hear and see but decide to buy the Non KC pup so Why???

ok from my point of view...i got kai, none kc reg..now please bare in mind i was under the impression that people only bought kc reg dogs if they wanted to show them..now i dont want to show my dogs.so why would it make a difference? i might be missing something on this thread, and others..people say, you should only breed to, show, perfect the breed, and to keep the line going..does that mean that all the breeders on here show their dogs?
i say again i'm asking because i'm genuinely interested..

Re: Why did you buy a Non KC dog

we got our cocker from kc reg breeders,as we intended to breed from him,he has a top pedigree. However we havent gone down that route as yet,he is now 3.saying that if we had got non registered dogs they would have sold just as easily,if not better, being less expensive.Lets face it there is a huge market for cheaper pedigrees, lots of people would rather pay £200 for a "pedigree"dog as opposed to £600.youve only got to look in the paper to see thispedigree papers can be easily knocked up by these people also.
