Taking My Mastiff to France

Can anyone help me as to wether I can take my Bull Mastiff with us on holiday to France...I am aware of him being treated before we re-enter the UK within 24-48 hours for ticks & worms.

He has his Pets Passport, is booked with us and caravan on Eurotunnel depart Folkestone Sunday 10th August for Bordeux region in France.

Today I am told that a Mastiff cannot enter into France as it comes under the Dangerous Dogs act.

I have tried the French embassy simply put on hold for 45 Minutes..Eurotunnel tell me he`s OK to travel..Defra cant help..web sites contradict.
If anyone knows for certain please let me know..thanks for reading.

I would have thought the caravan park where you have booked would have asked you the breed of dog, and informed you if it was on the banned list, I have heard they are pretty hot on the subject on the continent, if they didn't, ring them back and check.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine, when the pet passport first came out he got it all sorted had all the jabs done, then found out caravan sites wouldn't accept his staff X boxer cross, he stays in britain now.
Good luck, hope it works out ok for you.

Re: Taking My Mastiff to France

The problem I am having though is trying to ascertain wether he can go into France..If neccesary we will simply go further and forfeit our French holiday and go into Spain..The worrying thing is, if Mastiffs are banned from France we can therefor not travel through France into Spain!
