That's not strictly true, any problems are already there maynot be visable but by In breeding your just bringing them out, only experienced Breeders should undertake In Breeding,Line Breeding is different and most Breeders like to line Breed to keep consistancy and Breed Type within a litter.
With Pedigrees you can see which dogs suit your lines and how close the lines are and which problems and faults are coming through certain bloodlines.

Health problems can be eliminated by testing for them and only using Clear dogs in a breeding programme.

Re: I only have kc dogs?

It is difficult, but I don't think it's really fair to rightoff a breed just because it isn't KC recognised, the KC choose to recognise a few 'new' breeds each year. So, for breeds like the Corso or the Boerboel it could be them on the list of 'newly' recognised breeds next year, or this year whenever it may be they put those considerations in.

The Dogue De Bordeaux has only recently come off the 'Imported Breed Register' & Transferred onto the 'Breed Register'

yer i see wat u mean...now ur dogs and all the dogs u have mentioned are some of my fav dogs and ild like to see them reconised for sure.

but i do know wat cav means tho....if u hadnt of pointed out them breeds that deserve to be reconised ild 100% agree wiv cav....
but looking at most of the people down where i come from they are breeding their dogs togetha like bloody rabbits...i always get some **** along the road say to me * wanna stud ur dog out* or * wanna mate that* i ave a lovely boy at home ect etc...that pisses me off and its more them sort that dont give a shyte if the dog is kc or not and its them sort that dont understand about breeding an wat it entails...all they see is pound signs.

Re: I only have kc dogs?

I have a non KC reg Staffy who I would never dream of having a litter from - shes far too old and speyed now anyway but she was a pet from a rescue centre. All 3 of my DDB are KC reg - my male is not to breed standard and hes been done - he wont be contributing to the breed in any way.
With the Am Bull and Cane Corso - that is kind of different in the respect that they have a breed type so have something to keep breeding to - The Am Bull do have a registry in America is it? Hopefully ( without reading about it ) they will get recognition over in the UK...Nicci you can fill me in on that one.
Cane Corso are the same - they do have a breed type - whats going on with the registry of those Nicci?
I dont agree with mix breeding or cross breeding whatever you want to call it - but I dont agree with breeding a KC reg pedigree dog if its of bad breed type either. I have nothing major against non KC if they are coming from a rescue centre etc but I will never agree with someone breeding them to gain money etc and wont cheer them on and say how cute they are either.

Re: I only have kc dogs?

I think that where the KC recognise a breed, then only KC registered, health tested, up to breed standard (eg,. show standard) dogs or bitches should be bred from. So it automatically follows that I would only buy a KC reg. dog or bitch, whether for a pet or not. I want my Golden Retriever to look like a Golden retriever, thankyuo very much, and if I am buying a KC reg. dog, then that gives me the greatest chance of getting one!

I HATE that my breed is one of the most exploited. To the point that some lines now have dodgy temprements, in a breed where that should never, ever have been able to happen. I find that devastating, and it has happened because of irresponsible idiots who couldn't care less about the breed, only money.

There is just no need to breed non KC reg dogs. I am not knowledgable enough about breeds such as the Bulldog breeds to comment on breeding them, and why they are not KC recognised, but I do wonder what the difference is between them, and say a Labradoodle, other than that they have been around longer? Perhaps Nicci would be kind enough to explain it?

Janice, in the case of your Kai,no doubt you love him, but it sounds to me like you have been spun a line. It is possible to register two litters per year with the KC if you breed on a small scale. But that doesn't change that a bitch shoudl not have litters on consecutive seasons, and therefore the best thing for his poor Mum's welfare would have been the mismate jab after the 'accidental' mating. People who cannot keep a dog and bitch apart really shouldn't keep both.

Re: I only have kc dogs?

I'd never buy rom a breeder anyway, rescue dogs all the way for me. However if I were to actually go for a breed puppy then I would definately go for one that was KC Reg. It may not mean much these days, but I think I would feel better having one.

Re: I only have kc dogs?

Would like to pick up on a point Jackson said i have one of my cavs in season at the moment and mine are being kept apart so that no accidents happen as i am not breeding from her silly breeder would leave them together just to make a few quid.

I also would like to say that i dont want this thread to turn into a slangin match.

I have nothin agaist rescue dogs and cross breeds ect but dont think you should breed from them.

I ALSO DONT THINK IM A SNOB JUST BECAUSE MY DOGS ARE ALL KC REG..
