Re: Stray dog !!!

Like I say, I'd list him as found, he could well belong to someone may have been missing for a while. Doglost is the place to start by listing him as found, I'd be really surprised that he didn't belong to someone.

It would be a shame just to hand him in to battersea or handing him over to the dog warden, without trying first to find out if he does indeed have an owner - Scenario, what would you do if you happened to have lost your dog (could have escaped, been let out by accident, stolen & dumped etc...) wouldn't you be slightly angry if you later found on he'd been handed in to the local pound or handed over to the dog warden....

Just a thought....

Re: Stray dog !!!

i had a black lab brought to me by someone not to long ago no one wanted him so i called th rspca and they wouldnt get him then either they are bloody useless sometimes, anyway i ended up keeping him over night in my caravan with my son till the next day when i called the local lab rescue and they came out straight away, maybe your friend can try a bichon rescue if you think he is a bichon x might come out quicker than the warden a be a better place to go

Re: Stray dog !!!

I think if your friend can't look after him then the best thing is to hand him over to the dog warden or someone similar.
I found a collie/lab mix a few months ago - that was playing chase with the traffic - he as a friendly dog but had no sense.
I phoned the RSPCA and they told me they didn't collect strays and I had to ring the dog warden. (however a few years previously I had reported a loose dog roaming and they sent someone out to look for it, so I can only assume they don't bother if someone has hold of the dog)
When I rang the dog warden the council were trying to say so one could come till the next day as it was approaching 5pm. However I pointed out that I was unable to take the dog back to my house and if I released it there would be a road traffic accident and not only could there be a dead dog but dead people and the warden arrived with in 45 mins.
I rang the next day and the owners had been ringing around all local vets, rescues, police and dog warden for 2 days trying to find their dog.
So what I'm trying to say is the first place an owner would look is with local dog warden etc.

Re: Stray dog !!!

Zoo keeper he doesn't moult so would be good for allergy sufferers !!! Have Rang the dog warden this morning no one has rang to look for him and no posters have gone up in the local area ! Just waitin on the bichon Rescue to reply to her msg and see if they can pick him up as they place in foster homes which would be better than kennels for the lil ting
