Re: A sad goodbye

How very sad for you all.

I was just a bit confused as to why she was pts but I am sure they would have rehomed her if they could.

I didn't realise females fought for dominance I always assumed it was only males, until I read this thread.

RIP Luka

Oh yes they do, and when they do it's usually much worse than two males having a go, the saying is "Males fight for breeding rights, bitches fight for breathing rights"...

Re: A sad goodbye

Thank you all so very much for your beautiful and kind words. It means a lot knowing people out there care. It has been much harder for Anne, Luka was her baby, but I'm sure reading through these posts will make her feel supported and reassured.

Not sure who asked... but there was a comment re: why we didn't try to re-home her ourselves.
Don't think we didn't consider this. We called whippet rescue and other independant rescue shelters and with each one there was (obviously) a wait.
Luka was fighting hard for her dominance but that was just one of her many 'behavioural problems' - insecurity, severe anxiety... These 'problems' were getting worse as time went on and although we had a behaviourist working with us, we couldn't afford weekly/fortnightly visits. Cutting a long story short - it was decided that with all her 'issues' it would be unfair on her and the new family for her to be re-homed.
