[QUOTE=emmalouise;285620]Thank you for the dalmation rescue number, i will use it. I was really pleased to see someone else with the same dogs as me, we have been refered to another vet to check out if she has got this big brain small thick skull condition going on. I think it really is tragic people have bred english bull terriers so closely so they suffer this way. Ive done the RSCPA/CRUFTS petition and emailed it to my address book. Thanks again

Im still asleep and didnt read this post below but i am in total agreement but just too sleepy to be so eloquent

They really are very knowledgable people about deaf dogs.... lovely and helpfull

Can i ask you ave you ever owned a bull terrier be4 you got sheep????

Becoz bullys are deffo not for the faint hearted, they can be stubborn, and they are very active lovable playfull dogs at the best of times, and in all the years of owning these i ave found ethel to be just a tad more active then the normal hearing bullys,,,, altho she is a really good girl

wat im getting at is, if youve never owned one be4, sheeps behavour may well be normal, coz compairing a bully to any otha breed of dog i can see why people who havent had bullys be4 think they are demented or have something missing lol.

they can be laying there one minute, and the next they are tearing round the room doing a 100 mile an hour run pmsl...they leap at ya at full speed like a nutter and run up and down the sofa like they have a rocket up their jacksie pmsl....but beleve it or not, ITS NORMAL lol.

i know deaf bullys need that bit more work put into them, but once they are in a rutean and know all the signals possible 100%, then u truly cant go wrong.... i would be very interested as to why she dont give u eye contact tho coz mine always gives eye contact, thats part of her way of comunicatin wiv me...she watches my face and hands alot for instructions.

emmalouise is on a distinguished road
Re: Deaf English Bull Terrier

When she is well she gives eye contact and is very personable, as i said she does hand signals and is good to us and other dogs but now when she is not on steriods she goes demented. Maybe its a symtom, a come down sort of thing although we weaned her off them.

I have never owned a bully before, I only know about breed qualities from reading but that said I am very much about the personality of a dog and not the breed. For example i have owned several staffies that have been considered unsuitable to live with other dogs and to be too aggressive for rehoming. I chose to ignore this and they were rehabilitated. Im lucky to have vets in the family which is where these doggies have come from and Sheep arrived that way too.
Sheep's disturbed-ness (new word?) recently has led us think of syringomyelia. Making this thread very topical i know but she did come from a pedigree background.

seeing uv got vets in ur family would u be able to get the test done for free??? if not are you gonna get her tested for that??

can i ask you all to list all the things ur worried about ur bull terrier??? witch leads u to beleve she has syringomyelia or maybe something elce????

Lol, sorry but that brought a big smile to my face. EBT's certainly do sound as they are too unique and have amazing personalities (maybe not amazing to some people). Your Ethel sounds lovely and funny too.
