Re: pet price and show price
Yeah most definately. We have two show dogs and they were pretty expensive because of their lines, but all the puppies were the same price. They were all KC registered, all endorsed. Any pups of Barney cannot be KC registered unless Barney has health checks and achieves good hip scores, elbow scores and a clear heart test. We also cannot take Barney to a hot country or a country where dogs are classed as a delicacy. If we ever have to part with him he must go back to the breeder. Hudson's practically the same except he must also win at championship level shows before any pups of his can be KC registered, and must have a good hip score and a clear eye certificate. Well done, you done the right thing. Nicole xx

Re: pet price and show price
That's what I thought, she then said her previous pups had been qualifying for crufts and thats why they're so expensive, yet when speaking to knowledgeable crestie people, they are a relatively new line and are only just appearing in the shows, some other crestie breeders who I have spoken to don't sell their pups out of their champion bitch for that amount!
Her pictures she sent me were also the same pictures a different breeder had sent me . . is there anyway I can report them?? I think they may be scammers in some way or another . . maybe even a puppy farm as the other breeder had advertisements for crestie-poos too ![]() |

Re: pet price and show price
Are you speaking to people at shows? I found that is the best way to get to know what you want in your next show prospect. To be honest, anyone who charges like that, I would steer clear of.
Anything more than £50-£100 difference between male/female or show/pet out here doesn't make sense to me. In the USA, the AKC registration works in a different way, Limited Registration does not allow a dog to show or compete in AKC events. So, my breeder in the USA charge $2100 for a limited registration and $2800 for a full registration. This is the higher side of the average price for a companion pet puppy in the breed. |

Re: pet price and show price
I know what lines I like, and have been speaking to a few knowledgable crestie ppl
I've got my eye on a particular line, but they're very seldom available and they don't ask for those extortionate prices either! Got my eye on a very handsome young man . . . still trying to persuade his breeder to part with him! LOL These "breeders" actually approached me coz they "heard i was looking for a pup" I use the term breeders loosly as they smell like a puppy mill to me! I can understand why imports cost so much, and for a good quality line you'd expect highish prices, but I refuse to part with my cash on seldom heard of lines who's aunt "qualified" for crufts! |

Re: pet price and show price
its v difficult to predict show potential until a pup is 6-7 months old
Unless a breeder holds on to pups until this age or there is a glaring fault i feel all pups should go under one price

Re: pet price and show price
I adore Nakids
I know someone that breeds some gorgeous dogs, but unfortunately my OH doesnt like them, so I am trying to persuade him that they are just fab dogs In the mean time I am getting a dobermann in the late Spring this year. And yes, I would say that I will have to pay more for a show girl than a pet. I am just happy that i have found a good breeder ![]()
