Jess is 58 days gone. She has just gone out in the garden to wee and had a clear discharge. My son was out there with her and he shouted me because she jumped up in shock after doing it and when I looked she had a string like clear fluid hanging out. She is also now holding the base of her tail slightly away from her. Until this she has had no other syptoms no nesting, panting and had only just had her dinner before this happened.

It says in the Book of the Bitch that a mucus discharge can be the start of labour but do you think she still has a long way to go as she has no other signs?

when she starts to pant alot and be very restless you can say that she is pretty close but it can take a long while just keep her calm and a close eye, i dont think you will be going to bed tonight lol, good luck

when my girl whelped she took forever she had a show in the afternoon time and she was still going the next day right into the evening so you will need a big pot of coffee

When you say still going to you mean panting and stuff or just no other signs?

It can be a few days after the discharge starts to show. Have you been taking her temperature? A significant drop is a good indication.

Some bitches don't show many otuward signs ata ll. My girl stopped eating and drinking on day 59 (I had to syringe water into her mouth!) with some very mild panting, then promptly ate her breakfast on day 60. Her waters did break on the afternoon of day 60 though at 3.30, and our first pup was born just after 7pm.

No digging, no restlessness. I don't think anyone other than me woudl have noticed she was in labour. I even rang the vet who didn't think she was.

no sorry didnt explan properly she was giveing birth to them, the time between the show and the pushing was from the afternoon to the late evening time about quarter to 12 if i remember rightly

my little dog has the discharge for nearly aweek before actually starting labour !!!!!
