Most people who have met Chance for the first time always ask what he is and I tell them then they say 'Oh I have never seen a Black Shar-Pei'. Fawn seems to be the colour most have seen.
Colours are (what I can remember)...
Black
Fawn
Chocolate
Cream
Red
Mahogany(sp?)
Lilac
Blue
Issabella
Apricot
Breed Standard Says... All Solid colours except white are acceptable. Frequently shaded on tail and back of thighs with lighter colour.

You can also get... Whites, Pointed and Flowered(parti colour), as you can see from breed standard not accepted but the Flowereds are gorgeous. They are usually a white based dog with coloured patched over it, usually found in Blue, Lilac and Black. A flowered is next for me if I can find on which is cheap enough, as people charge a fortune for them when they are actually a breed fault!

I like the flowered Shar - Pei too, think they are gorgeous, we have been considering perhaps another puppy very soon after loosing our old girl last year. I've been looking for a flowered Shar - Pei without much success & like you say the ones you do come across are really overpriced, I don't mind paying a high price but not when I know that they are definatley doing it for the 'rare' tag. They probably are, I wouldn't know...how common are the flowereds? I do know a good breeder of Peis and my nephews girlfriends uncle breeds them although they haven't had a litter of Pei's in the last three years, as they would have been the first people I would have approached But it is a flowered I have my heart set on.

Re: Shocking - What People Will Do For Money

My friend has a flowered bitch pregnant, she is due middle of next month, I knew she will be keeping a flowered for herself if any arrive. She has been bred to a Blue dog who carries flowereds in his genes. So fingers crossed their could be some arriving soon, I told her I would take one if only she wasnt in Devon, lol!!
This is Daisy...

The pup is the picture is whom she is pregnant to, btw its not her pup, it was a dog bought in.

Flowered are common, I see one a month posted on Epupz but they usually have a high price tag, when techincally they should not be KC Reg and because of this they should be below £500! Some breeders have them within litters and do not advertise it due to the fact they are a breed fault and if they are popping up in show lines its not the best! Shar-Peis where nearly extinct going back 30/40yrs ago and the orignal group they had some where flowered. Here is an artical on the flowereds...
