Re: *SAD/HAPPY UPDATE* backyard breeder

I would think the farmer thought he had a clean shot. I don't know the law about this but I'm sure someone will be able to answer your question Delboy....Jill

Re: *SAD/HAPPY UPDATE* backyard breeder

aww that made me cry, what a happy ending, so amzing that these dogs who were so badly treated by people will now go on to help people, shows how forgiving the animal world is, soemthing humans could learn from.

so glad the mother survived

Re: *SAD/HAPPY UPDATE* backyard breeder

Well it doesn't answer the question about the clean kill but I found this...
Police say farmers can legally shoot your dog - Dogs Rule
Got to say I agree somewhat with "The Piss Take"'s comment...

Re: *SAD/HAPPY UPDATE* backyard breeder

Thank you to everyone who posted!! I asked the guy(david) who took the dogs if he could send me some pics of them in service. Hopefully he does!

And to answer ones question about the shooting: The farmer who shot the dog actually owned the property that the people who owned them was living on. He is the landlord and felt that he had the right to shoot them. This man is about 87, so I'm pretty sure he couldn't make a very good "clean" shot if he wanted to.
Here in Oklahoma the law is that if you live out of city limits and see a loose dog on your property, you can shoot it. No questions asked. It's a very dumb law, but they have it so because a lot of dogs chase cattle and such around here.

Thumbs up Re: *SAD/HAPPY Update* pit-profit pup-mill

i am very sorry that the farmer-landlord shot + killed the dam,
but the nearly-white pup was doggone lucky he only plowed
a slug under her skin, vs into her skull!, poor girl.

as for the former-Marine, i hope he is a happy home for the
pups while they train, and that he does let U know how they
do... of course, we would love to know, too!

the meth-makers are low-lifes, and typical that they would
abandon their pets, they are a parody of what HUMAN(e)
ought to be, IMO.
i hope the cops track em down, charge + convict...
maybe even on animal-abandonment.

on an entirely diff-subject - the PUPS -
-------------------------------------------------
the 2 red-brindles look pretty good -
both liver-and-white pups are very potty, + the M liver-pied
is quite fearful, which does not bode well for his future as a
public-service SD or Med-Alert. i hope his new trainer is
dog-savvy, and can specifically address his anxiety before
he gets much older!
primary-socialization ends around 12-WO, and the period
between that + secondary-fear period (~ 5 to 6-MO) is
more work in, and less pos-change in the pup.

after 6-MO, it is 3-times the work + 1/3 the results,
in comparison to an under-3-MO pup... WAY harder.
the sooner he addresses the fears, the better!
all paws crossed,
--- terry

Great post!
I agree to all that you have said above.

although, the pups may seem fearful in the pictures, they were quite friendly once you sweet talked them. I think it was the funny looking machine that was flashing at them(the camera) that freaked them out a tad

And OF COURSE I'll let you all know about the doggies in their training if he updates me. That's why I mentioned it

Smile Re: *SAD/HAPPY UPDATE* backyard breeder

It is wonderful to see that the pups are now being cared for and are going to be trained for something useful. Most people do not see beyond the fighting image of that breed sadly.
