I have been in contact with a Shih Tzu breeder who will have some puppies available for when I want them. However he said they are sold as pets and are not KC registered. What does everyone think. To be honest they are still £500 and I've seen loads of KC registered ones for that price.

For that price as you've said you can get one registered with the KC.
Contact one of the breed clubs they wil be able to help you find a good recommended reputable breeder.

Thanks for your advice. I was thinking that it was a bit strange not to register them unless there was something dodgey going on. these people say they KC registered breeders with KC registered dogs so why not register the puppies?! I'm looking for one later in the year but want to be ready for it. I have had a few breeders that are expecting litters later in the year so I think I'll explorer other avenues!
