I have recently bought a miniture jack russell pup and not sure what to do about the breeding side of things. She was never bought to breed or make a profit from or anything like that.
The vet has told me the best thing to do is to have her spade as soon as she is old enough as terriers have a problem with cancerous cells developing in their womb when they have seasons.
Now I'm in a pickel because I would like to breed her to give her the experience before taking it away and also because I have never had a female dog before and I would like the experience!

I just don't have a clue what to do and what would be the best for her because it would be a first time for both of us and I wouldn't want to put her at risk by my inexperience!

Help please

xx
take vets advice and spay her
she does not need to have puppies
there are thousands of unwanted puppies
in rescue now

there is enough unwanted dogs already
why push the need to breed
seems a lot of people today are just breeding for the cash
nice to see the OP has taken good advice and is going to spay her girl

Of course, everyone has rights, but alongside rights should be responsibilities, something that is too often overlooked or ignored by those who but their own needs and desires first.
hi i may have been miss understood. i dont agree with most dog breeding. i think there should be some kind of breeding law. what i ment by my reply was it is her choice but if she does go ahead with breeding just make sure she dosent over breed. thanks for bringing this up so i can make sure its not taken as bad advice x x x

Re: Help Help Help

I firmly believe if your girl is at risk dont breed her, i wouldnt, but then in the same breath isnt it always a risk to breed, there is always a chance something will go wrong, your situation may be different if vet has advised that it wouldnt be good to breed from her, but i have 2 week old puppies and lost one of them 2 days ago, i knew this was a risk and i think if we are all honest, as alot of us on here have bred their dogs and we al know that we could lose pups or even mum, that is human nature but we still do it for our own reasons. My point is go with your gut feeling, if you think your girl is at risk then dont do it, there is always a risk, i think you have been responsible enough to come on here and ask the question but IT IS YOUR DECISION !!!!
Dont put her at risk if you have been advised she is not fit to, i had my girl well and truly health checked and asked my vet was she too small to breed from and would i be doing her any harm, i was told no, she was not at risk so i mated her and i dont feel any guilt for that. 2 of the pups are staying with me and the other is going to a very good home with stipulations in the agreement that he comes back to me if it doesnt work out, so i know i will not be adding to the rescue centre population.
