please help

my 2yr old basset hound has been having a phantom pregnancy and she seems to be starting to get mastitis i have had a hot water bottle on the area and drained some milk as i read on a few Internet vet sites thats what you should do is there anything else that i can do and will it be ok until the morning as i don't have any transport to get to my vets till the morning

Antibiotics are the best treatment, they should help clear it within 24hours.

I would have been restricting her water intake with the phantom to help the milk dry up, no nesting or dwelling on 'puppies'

thanks im going to the vets first thing he said she should be ok till then as long as i keep putting a hot water bottle on it and try to express some milk will let you know how she is tomorrow

hi been up all nite with her much better this morning took her to the vets first thing she said i had got rid of most of the infection i got some antibiotics and something to carm her hormones down so hopefully she should be fine in a couple of days

high protein food dont help, i would put her a low protein food as well this will help

hope she's back to normal very soon
