Ok first I would say, that as you are not quite sure the way things work and the time scale... Don't breed from her this season, go out and buy the ''book of the bitch' and study as hard as you can about breeding.
Being thrown into the deep end, with an 8 week pregnant dog, I wished I had known alot more! it's not east so I honestly suggest you have as much info on breeding, pregnancy, mating etc waay before its time.

Also making sure your dog has had al the necesary health tests and choosing a stud dog who's had all the necesary tests too

Re: a bit of advice needed please

I mate my girls on day 11 of there season and if no tie i mate them again on day 13

But all dogs are different and some will only let a stud mate when she is ready sometime later than 13 days

agreed. i usually go for 13 or 14 anytime after she stops spotting and is flagging propperly.

But for sure know what you are getting into. if youre looking to make a quick buck off of puppies, it usually doesnt happen. Health checks and screening take most proffit and your dog is your family member too. so unhealthy pregnancy, birth, and aftercare wouldnt be good.

Good luck on the breeding!

Think long and hard before considering bringing more dogs into the world. You must ensure that both the dog and bitch are free from congenital defects and participate in the screening programmes appropriate to the breed. If you do decide to proceed, timing is all important as successful mating can usually only take place within the correct 48 hour period. Most people recommend the 12th to 14th day of the season but bitches do vary. It is probably better to try from the 10th day onwards. As far as the bitch's discharge goes, the correct time for mating tends to be just when the bloody discharge has more or less stopped and has turned to a watery pink. Any mating without a tie is unlikely to be successful. Good luck and if you do go ahead with your breeding plans, I hope that you have some lovely puppies who lead happy and fulfilling lives. Best wishes, Bob

Re: a bit of advice needed please

I agree without propper knowledge it is unhealthy. but thats my opinion.

a simple i dont think you know what youre getting into and should wait until you have the correct info would be a little more propper IMO.

Re: a bit of advice needed please

mmm post deleted i see.

well thats a surprise, not.

why not tell it like it is folks.

the op is a fool for even considering a breeding with no knowledge at all.

my blood boils when i read these posts.

how many of you have actually planned litters and waited for right dog and had checks and paid for them and still had problems.

gammy pups who take ill all the time, hd , eye probs, heart probs.

yet the op doesnt even know the basics.

Re: a bit of advice needed please

HAHAHAHA! fair enough. edit me down! lol.

and trust i have seen idiot people try to make a quick buck, my favorite breed is being destroyed as we speak due to idiot breeders, hence why i told him there is almost no profit in breeding.

Everyone has to start somewhere, all top breeders didnt know anything at one point. atleast this person is asking for help and not out in the backyard tieing his bitch to a post so the male can destroy her.

but we're off subject now. if he chooses to breed i hope he keeps asking for advice and help and does all the medical testing and exams possible for his bich, to ensure a healthy pregnancy. -over, out- done.
