Scanning

Is there an 'optimum' time for scanning to confirm pregnancy. I know that puppies can be detected from 21 days with experience scanners but probably better around 30 days. Just wondering if there is a time when scanning is too late ie 35 - 40 days?

our friend is a sheep scanner but also scans dogs! he scans on the 30th day from 1st day of mating and after because up until then absorbtion is higher? he does scan later than this as well but it is harder to tell the amount of puppies although pregnancy can easily be confirmed?

Re: Scanning

Thanks, that is very helpful.

I have booked my girl for scan tomorrow with farmer who also scans dogs and I believe that he is very reliable. She will be 37 days. I am more interested in definite confirmation than number at this stage although a guestimate would be helpful.

As she is a happy fun loving girl, I just want to make sure that she is not playing 'fast and loose' and teesing me and having a phantom

Yes i know what you mean, but i personally think the farmers scanners are much more reliable and precise than the vets ones, and usually if it is around 4-5 puppies in the litter they can see this quite clearly, with larger litters it can be harder because they do hide? but our scan man has been so accurate it is unreal??? lol good luck for tomorrow and please let me know if she is? fingers crossed
