Hi

I'm sure owners of prospective "wives" would like to know his hip score and when his most recent eye test was done

Re: Stunning Labrador Stud Dog

I used to breed labradors and had my breeding girls hip scored and eye tested and i would only use hip and eye tested studs too.If all breeders had their dogs health tested then it wouldnt take too long to breed out these problems completly.Labradors are still the most popular breed registered with the kennel club -literally thousands and thousands each year so these tests are a vital part of good breeding.
Has your dog been tested?

Re: Stunning Labrador Stud Dog

Hi

Just interested why would you charge a good rate for his first year

Is he proven in the ring or in working trails and what health tests have been done ?

Are you aware about research into the right lines to breed on with him and a suitable match with the right bitch and what are you hoping to gain by breeding with him ?

Re: Stunning Labrador Stud Dog

Hiya

His Hip is 4:4 Elbow 0:0 and has a clear eye certificate. He is also of course fully vacinated as you would expect.

He is unproven, hence the reduced rate, and I neither show, nor trial him, due to lack of time. I do however hunt with him with my birds of prey which he excels in.

I myself am not an experienced dog breeder, however i am more than aware with the need to choose bitches / lines carefully when breeding. My experience is in breeding Cleveland Bay horses, where it is essential to use correct lines due to them being a rare breed. I am working closely with Skye's breeder (my dog) as she is obviously more than aware of correct lines / compatibility, and is a fountain of all knowledge (she realy does put me to shame with how much she knows hehe)

My reason for putting him to stud is simple realy, hes a hansom lad, with good scores and amazing nature, intelligence and ability. In my eyes (and also having consulted the Labrador Retreiver Club) he is a fine example of the breed.

Hope this answers your questions

Regards

Paul

Re: Stunning Labrador Stud Dog

Appologies

Forgot to say, eyes were tested on the 14/3/08 and hips/elbows on 7/3/08 so both very recent

Hi Paul

Great that you've had the health checks done and got such good results and that you are following the advice of your knowledgeable breeder and plan to contact her re the suitability of potential mates

Now people who may be interested can make a more informed choice.
