Calcium Deficency in Bitches

Hi,
My Jack Russle bitch gave birth three weeks ago and was doing really well untill last night when she didnt look to well. At about eleven last night i rushed her and pups to the vets and she had a intravenious drip of calcium. She responded wel. But i have been advised to keep mum and pups apart. Which is proving extremely difficult. She is barking constantly to get to them and i have already began trying to feed them and allowing her minimal contact.
Has any one else here experienced his problem and how did you deal with it. She is a doting mum , but i dont want her to get sick either.

Re: Calcium Deficency in Bitches

I've never experienced this, but it can be caused by feeding too much calcium during pregnancy, so if you plan to breed again it might be somethign to bear in mind for the future.

I hope Mum make a quick recovery.
