Glad it worked out alright anyway, I bet he's overjoyed to be back with you and all those huge dogs! I think it did Jayjay a lot of good being around them he's not fazed by anything. What are you planning to do with him now then?
I agree with you re nipping - if she had said he had nipped the labradoodle or the girl, I would have explained in much the same way that you have. But to try to say he had bitten her leg so badly that it tore a hole in her jeans - and then it didn't leave a mark on her leg - well, like you said, it's nothing more than a lame excuse.

Re the pup - our first reaction is to keep him! He just seemed so very glad to be back with us and the other dogs. He's raced around the garden with them and is now fast asleep, curled up with our grey bergamasco. Aaaww!! However, I know we are thinking with our hearts rather than our heads and so we are going to sleep on it and see how we feel tomorrow. If we keep him we will have five dogs and three cats, and we need to be sure that we can look after them all properly before we finally decide whether or not to keep him.

Re: buyers deciding they don't want a puppy

I had a similar experience with a kitten i sold, the man rang me up the next day and said if i didnt come and get him now he was going to take him to a cats home!! he seemed really nice when i first met him and very keen, hed read up all about the breed and seemed genuine. His reason was he couldnt cope with the kitten wanting to be around/on him all the time!!it was to demanding,so i took the day off work also to drive to pick him up.I gave him his money back(less petrol money)and took him home.

I think I can beat this. Once (with a non-pedigree kitten) I came hiome to find that the people I had given the kitten to had returned it by putting it back through the cat flap. No phone call, no note of explanation, nothing!

I had another who, having been told quite clearly on the phone that the kitten was nervous and would need a lot of time, and having assured me they were prepared to put the time in, returned it within the hour because it had gone to hide behind the settee!
