Exclamation Blood in urine!

confused:Hello,
I'm really worried about one of Maud's babies, i am stimulating them to wee and poo with cooled boiled water and cotton wool balls. The last time I did this the smallest girl had what looks like blood in her wee.
She isn't constipated and is feeding and seems well in herself.
Any one got any idea's? My breeders hasn't had this happen before.

I thought maybe dehydration or a bladder infection?

Re: Blood in urine!

She's drinking more than before she had the pups and the other pups are fine.
Is there anything I can give the pup if she is dehydrated?

Have you got the tiniest dropper to just put a couple drops of boiled water on puppies tongue every hour or so ? Literally drops on the tongue is all!

Re: Blood in urine!

Took her to the vets today as their was more blood and her tummy is very swollen. They have give her antibiotics but as shes so small we have to hope its a wee infection and the drops will sort it.
They did warn me it could be the sign of something more serious
Shes still feeding and responsive so fingers crossed she'll pull through.

Re: Blood in urine!

Thanks I know your not supposed to get too attached to them as these things happen but doing the two hourly feeds I really can't help it! They all have their own little personalities already.
Fingers crossed for her!

Re: Blood in urine!

is mum not feeding them or weeing and pooing them? ( apologies if i have missed the answer already) i dont think i have ever had it that young in newborns, one of the older ones had it and i gave her cranberry juice ( not for puppies though!) i hope it isnt anything serious brighteyes although i would think they are very young to have a water infection so early?
