I haven't read the article, but I wouldn't, I don't know if it can be inherited, but pups from parents who have had stomach problems be it bloat or another tend to have pups that have them, my experience is based on GSD's, other breeds may be different.

Re: Should I Breed Puppies from my Bitch?

I would be very worried about what will happen on the inside - after bloat the tummy is never really the same again, so stretching it all with a tummy full of babies really in my opinion is not the thing to do. I would be worried about losing my girl to the strain or maybe bloat again

Re: Should I Breed Puppies from my Bitch?

Jackie - In my opinion you have made the right choice -
I know I would never breed after a bitch has had bloat - the tummy will not be strong enough to cope with any babies...I know its such a shame but at least you didnt lose her to bloat - many people lose dogs to bloat - you are lucky she made it through
Shall go and have a nose at her pics

Edited to add Lilly is such a lovely looking girl - have you any more pics of her to share??
