Question Breeding

Hiya, i have a question

I have always been interested on why people breed specific pedigree's dogs.

What got everyone (who does breed dogs) involved in doing it?

I love hearing about the puppies and it is great seeing them grow up through the pictures, I really appreciate being able to see them

xx

(i hope i have worded the question right, i am not good with words sometimes, but it is something i have always wanted to ask )

If anyone does get the chance to reply, i would appreciate it.

Re: Breeding

Its a bit like saying whats your favourite meal what suits one doesnt suit another.
People who get into breeding are usually in it to better the breed they have chosen, and get great reward from seeing their dogs in full flight of good health

Re: Breeding

Not many answers, I'll try and keep mine short, even though technically I am not yet a breeder, perhaps next year!!! I mentioned right from the word go the possibility of breeding, when I first got Indie. I wanted to compete in some sort of event and possibly breed to keep a pup and run that on to perhaps develop a line, depending on whether the dog was a good enough example, and their health test results.

Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be with Indie, she's had a bit of a battle with cruciate injuries, which is a shame as she is a fab girl. Tau (half sister to Indie) is showing promise at the gundog training, she has some nice points about her, and a perfect set of health scores to boot. If I'm honest, it scares the pants off me when I think about it for too long, but I think that's a good thing. I'd like to keep a pup or two from Tau to run on and see how they progress; there are a lot of badly bred chocolates with no proven ability (except as coffee tables as I've been told so many times), and as I love a challenge, I'd love to work towards building a reputation for having proven Labs of any colour, including the chocolate numpty variety
