I am not sure if my dog was fertilized? (Please read)

My 3 year old Cocker Spaniel (Bella) was in heat at the end of febuary. I have talked to my vet and she said on the 11th day have her get fertilized. We brought over my friends dog on the 11th day which was yesterday. Everything went fine. He mounted her like at least 5 times. We are not sure if he was finished giving her everything she needed. He kept wanting to mount her, after his erection has decreased back to normal sized. but my dog did not want nothing more of him and they were running around the pool, with the guy following her by the tail. What I want to know is if anyone could give me any ideas on that dog at least fertilizing her because im not sure. I am looking forward for these pups.

first of all did the dogs tie ? if they did then you can be quit sure that the job was done so to speak and you normally have a second mateing to on another day, if they did not tie then she was proberly not ready and you need to put them together again and so on until the tie, some dogs are not ready until later in the season, if you are not experienced at breeding and are not sure what to do you should get help from someone that does as dogs can hurt each other if they are left alone and are not experienced themselves.

What do you mean by tieing necessarily. like how long the male was mounted?

no a tie is when the male dog has mounted the bitch and inserted his pennis into the bitch which then gets stuck inside her and the male dog will lift his leg over the bitches back so he is faceing the opposite way to her they stay like this for a while and should be suppervised all the time as i said they can hurt each other if they try to get away from each other

i don`t mean to sound rude, but you obviously don`t know anything about breeding dogs.
to get a "proper" mating the 2 dogs need to tie.the male enters the female, locks then turns so they are bum to bum. They will stay like this for anyhting from 5 mins to over an hour.this doesn`t nessecarily mean she will "take" but its more certain that she will
not all bitches are ready on thier 11th day.it`s generally between 10-17 days, some longer sone shorter.
I think you need to do a bit more research,as cockers have a lot of health problems, both dogs should ahve undergone medical tests before mating them
