Re: The Journey Of A First Time Litter

i just thought i would put an update here incase candys puppies thread does get lost

Candy's puppies had their hearing test today
Chunk is fully hearing
Lilly is fully hearing
Lucky is fully hearing
Rollo is Deaf
Stardust is deaf in her left ear
Cindy is Dear in her Right ear
Lone Wolf is fully hearing
Seren is fully hearing
Lupi is fully hearing

Sadly Stardust and ROllo's Potential owners dropped out.

Rollo is now going to my sisters as a forever home with the support of me and my family and her GSD to bring him up and look after him

Stardust the last person left on my waiting list (who was very shocked to hear from me) is going to take her. so even though i shed a few hundred tears today for my 3 middle babbies i shed a few happy ones knowing they will be loved.

My heart almost broke in two when i was told ROllo was deaf he was the 5th puppy to be tested and until that point i had only good news.

the patten in the fact it was the 3 middle puppies born with hearing problems has not escaped me i am wondering if this is a common thing and will be researching to find out If the deaf puppies or half deaf puppies are always in the middle of a litter. Be interesting i think to find out.

Poor you, sounds emotional.

Can't believe they pulled out over deaf in one ear

Sending hugs and glad you have found good homes for them xx

Re: The Journey Of A First Time Litter

Sad that potential owner of Rollo pulled out ,they must have known the risk ,at least you did hearing test unlike a few breeders .
Glad you have a forever home for him.My Cocker Kira who died last year was deaf for 4 years and other sences took over ,he will be ok.Tell your sis to find a dog trainer experianced in training deaf dogs and owners.
Hugs and kisses to you and your puppies.

Re: The Journey Of A First Time Litter

Sad that you had some deaf/part deaf puppieas and sad that the potential owners pulled out but they will probably go to better homes now.

Be interesting to find out about the tendancy toward deafness in a litter

Re: The Journey Of A First Time Litter

Good things and bad thing about having a litter

Good:

Seeing their birth
Watching them grow and develped
the learning to walk
learning to bark
learning to run
learning to eat
Playing together or with us
the joys of owning a dog ten fold
watching them sleep
teaching the graden is for weeing
seeing my kids luaghing and playing with them

Bad:
THe news of my deaf boy
Having to give them up
the SMELL of my house
Candy's teats
My slippers have been murdered
THe cleaning and mopping up every hour or so

It has been hard work and the most pleasure i have had in a long time. I am going to miss them so damn much its going to hurt. I can see tears coming thats for sure and not just by me but the kids too.

BUT i would do it all over again and i plan too WHEN i find myself a new breeding bitch after talking to a solictor there is no point in fighting for candy's paperwork i dont have enough proof so she is to be spayed as soon as i can spay her. which is sad she has been a great mother and i set out and accieved a better looking spot on my pups than her.
