Pregnancy Question
Hi All,
My Cane Corso bitch in in the latter stages of pregnancy. Unfortunately, I do not know the exact date she mated, the pregnancy came as a bit of a surprise. However, I do know she was in heat on and around the 10th of December. For the last day or two, she has been very lethargic, hesitant to move, and generally appearing very uncomfortable and exhausted. She also occasionally yelps if she gets up suddenly. She does not appear to be in pain at any other time, just if she tries any sudden movement. This will be her (and my) first litter, so i'm wondering if this irregular yelping is relatively normal given the late stage of her pregnancy. Can anyone with a little more experience tell me if i should stop worrying or even be rushing her to the vet? Any answer would be appreciated. |

Re: Pregnancy Question
Hi Carol!
Thanks for your reply. We'll probably take her to the vet tomorrow (we're a bit snowed in at the moment) but she appears to be happy enough. Although in the last hour, she's stopped accepting her favourite treats, and i read that that may a sign of impending labour! Of course, i'll post pics when she's done! Here's hoping everything goes well! |

Re: Pregnancy Question
if she was in heat around the 10 of december she must be near now, if she mated on the 10th say she will have just over a week to go so, as everybody else has already said keep a very close eye on her and if in doubt go to the vets. good luck

Re: Pregnancy Question
The norm for whelping is between 58- 63 days, give or take a few days either side.
If she's yelping I would get the vet to give her a quick once over and maybe a scan to make sure everything is normal.I wouldn't leave her alone now just incase she starts and got into any trouble and needed help. Make sure you have your vet on standby just incase. Let us know how you get on... |

Re: Pregnancy Question
Thanks everybody - she seemed to be fine after a good nights sleep! She seems a lot happier the last two days (no yelping), and her tail doesn't stop wagging.
She still looks like she swallowed a beach ball, and we're waiting impatiently for the puppies! I promise i'll post some pics of the little ones whenever they decide to grace us with their presence ![]() Toodles! |
