. Anyway, good luck on your Newfoundland doggie, I just know you'll get one. They look kinda like Labrador Retrievers...I head Labs came from Newfoundland, not Labrador, so they must be related? |

Re: Waiting lists
I dont do a 'waiting' list anymore I do a 'contact' list lol
I email people with the run up to the brith, when the birth happens and say if you are still interested in a kitten please reply, before this I have already spoke to them and asked them lost of questions, and told them that this doesnt mean that they will get a kitten, esp if they want a certain sex or colour/pattern. If they dont reply, I take them off in about a week, as I know some people go on holiday etc. But it does annoy me when I have spent my time updating from them to then say 'oh sorry I got 1/2 the other day' if they had just told me, I wouldnt care, but its polite and I dont waste my time updating them! ![]() What REALLY gets to me is, I was helping 2 people who were going to view this litter, then were emailing me 24/7 round the clock with questions, the day before the viewing I got a text from one saying one of the most awful and laughable lie/excuses Ive ever heard in my life!! IF she has just said 'I dont want one now' Id have been more than happy!! Then the other guy just plain didnt reply to me, after holding kittens for 4weeks, that was daily texts/emails helping him buy items for them?? Videos, pictures, emailing til 3am... THAT I hate, just no reply, nothing, I no longer hold kittens for people now after that!!* on the flip side, Ive had people wait a year or more for a kitten from me now 2 are coming back from my very first litter for another!! and they have waited for me to have this litter, so Im mega happy! Then had people wait 6months, and all turn up and it go really well, just glad that the numptys are few and far between!

Re: Waiting lists
Do you take deposits from people who are placed on your waiting list?
We done this last year when we were placed on a waiting list for a litter that was due January 2012. Paced a 3rd of the price of a pup and was told we were the 2nd pick of females when they arrived. So almost 8 months later, when the pups were here, we contacted the breeder to discuss our visit to pick our pup we were told they didn't have a female for us! 11 pups were born 6 boys 5 girls. They told us they only take deposits for 3 boys and 3 girls and if there was any more in the litter it would be first come first serve. Bearing in mind we were the 2nd people to place a deposit on a female! So we never got our pup. They did say if we paid MORE then they would ensure we could have a pup from their next litter which would be due around Christmas time! Needless to say we turned this down, as we didn't want to end up being more money down and when the time comes end up not having a pup again. We then chose a different breed of dog and visited a breeder who is a (family friend) and she had 2 pups left from her recent litter. After a further 2 visits, including observation of feeding time, we decided we would take one. We had to wait another 2 weeks until she was 10 weeks and then we brought her home. She keeps all her pups until 10 weeks of age to ensure they get all their vaccinations. I can understand that some people let you down probably more often than not, but maybe a deposit paid waiting list would be better? |
