Dog mating problems
Hi, I need some advice from anyone who has experince in breeding.
I have a 10 year old very active virgin golden retreiver who we would like to have a pup from. We had a lovely 3 year old bitch round last night who was ready in her cylce. We thought things would just happen naturally but after a couple of hours we gave up. The bitch was showing all the signs she was ready and there was no aggression from either party . But my male didn't seem to know he should be mounting her but was very interested. He sniffed and went around her a lot but would not get on her in fact she was mounting him! We tried to lift him up a few times and he was trying but kept missing! She is only slighly smaller so I dont think height is an issue. The bitch is coming back around tonight for another go and I need some advice please. Should we just persevere? P.s both hip scored and eyes tested. Mark |

Re: Dog mating problems
Completely agree with the above. It is very unlikely your oldie will mate, especially if she is a maiden?? Is your boys breeder prepared to lift his endorsements and happy for this to go ahead??

Re: Dog mating problems
It took Chester a week to get it right for his first time, luckily the bitch was a flirt and really wanted to be mated
