Re: Pharaoh Hound bitch needs stud...
the best advice I can give is ... think long and hard about having a litter from Tari. A pharaoh hound is not the easiest of hounds to live with.People who want a ph pup usually have had one in the past & go back to the original breeder or are showdog people who will want a show quality pup You havn't shown Tari in the Uk, so people will sway to the show bitch rather than a pet home Ph.
In the past 3 years there has been a number of show quality litters bred.A good breeder will have a list of potential homes before the bitch is mated, even that can fall through & have puppies up to 8 months old at home waiting for a home, there's just not been the demand for pharaoh's in the last few years and especially now with the financial pressure on people. If you sell to a first time pharaoh owner, there is a huge chance that dog will come back as rehome or rescue or be bounced around from home to home (which a pharaoh could not handle)
Breeding a litter gives you responsibilities for those puppies, can you offer back up if they need rehoming in their lifetime?
& the last bit £££££££ it is not cheap to raise a litter, register it with the Kc,Vet bills the list goes on, people see them advertised at £800 but in reality not many are sold at that price, look through the ads for ph puppies & see the price drop & how long the ads been up .
Crufts is coming up in sunday March 12th , 63 dogs entered ,speak to breeders/owners there for advice on the pitfalls of having a litter .
