Re: What is the type of this puppy ?

Where abouts in the world are you? What support services are available to you, such as vets, dog wardens and dog charities?

The puppy looks far to young to be away from his mum Poor little mite.

Well done for taking him in - he will need a lot of socialisation and as others have said goats milk is better as dogs are intolerant to cows milk. Get some good quality puppy food for him as well.

He looks like a little terrier cross - but it's very hard to tell with dogs when they are tiny what breeds they may have in them.

Re: What is the type of this puppy ?

He reminds me or a border terrier I would say he is likely though a border terrier cross maybe even something like a jack russell, it is hard to tell when so small and just from one photograph.

He does look very young though. Cows milk is not always good for dogs, some cannot tolerate cows milk, it could make him very poorly and give him diarrhoea.

Goats milk is usually tolerated better if you are really stuck temporary what to give him then that would be the best choice of the two.

Dont know where you are but he really is too young to start weaning he really needs a proper puppy formula like RCV Baby dog milk that is for orphaned puppies, or where mums do not produce enough milk. Or there is Welpi a formula for puppies that is based on bitches milk. if he cant eat food yet that is what he really needs.

Ideally you need to take him to the vet to get him checked over and they likely may do the milk substitute as well.

Please take him to the vet immediately, although he may seem fine puppies can take a turn for the worse very quickly.

Thanks !!
I would say he looked like a Patterdale X Jack Russel. He looks to be around 5 to 6 weeks old and far to young to be away from it's mum, he defo needs to be taken to the vet for thorough check over, wormed and given good quality puppy food, he looks big enough to be weaned onto mix of puppy food and some baby rice, what little sweetie. Your friends yard looks a bit dry and dusty, can she not take him indoors until he is older and defo until after he have had his complete Innoculations Injections, looks like you could be from abroad just from the dryness of the earth etc as Britain haven't had any hot weather that would dry our gardens up like yours.???. good luck and please let us know how you and your friend got on with him.

Just to add, looking at that photo looks to be like your mate have chickens as I see a white feather, make sure your mate picks up the feathers, also that plastic packaging around him and that rope, if he picks up any of that and starts to chew on it he could choke or digest it....then you are in trouble and he will end up in the vets to get the stuff removed from his throat or stomach. Mega money for the vet bills then.
