i have a foster dog who is due to drop anyday ,and half her nipples seem to be recessed ,anyone experenced this and are the pups able to latch on easierly ,or is there something i could do to help lol ive given them a massage with baby lotion as there quite grubby so clean them a bit .which was lucky as there was also a tick atached to one

hi my shiba inu girl has 2 inverted nipples at the top under her front legs and her litter who are 3 weeks old nearly do not have any problems latching on infact they seem to like them 2 always full of milk.

well shes had 9 pups ,they dont seem to be latching on the inverted ones so have been helping lol

Assuming she has four sets of nipples then! Sorry to go off track but just curious!
My dog has 6 sets of nipples - just wondered , and sure this is daft - if there was a reason why some dogs have more then others
And yep! I know the can have any amount from 8 to 13

My girls top most two on her chest are inverted but she has 11 & only had two surviving pups in her litter last year....so really was not an issue.

However the pups used all the other bar the inverted ones....but this was possibly down to too much choice lol

lol she has 10 nipples in all ,which i found unusual ,im used to them having a odd number ,but they all seem to be doing fine so far
