Re: in-porting from the USA

yes, it's much easier to fly out to USA and bring the dog back as 'excess baggage' into a mainland european port and then drive back to UK. It works out cheaper and you will come in on the same plane. I flew to Paris with Delta - my flight plus $200 for my dog. I left my car at the hotel as it was cheaper and safer - I stayed the night before flying out but then I had a long drive (500miles) to Paris.

Re: in-porting from the USA

I've exported and imported from the US. As mentioned, its cheaper to fly out and bring back pup with you. Yes, dogs will have to go in the hold, but they remain with you to the poibnt you go to the departure lounge. I have always flown with American Airlines - fab company and always really helpful, they cant do enough for you when you fly with a dog and all the staff like a fuss, lol lol!!

Just book your ticket and then ring the Airline direct at the sirport you fly from to imform them you will have a dog with you, then just pay for the dog on the day of the flight.

We did it all ourselves, I found the rpices of comapny to do it for you was astronomical!! For us to send the 2 pups by company last summer was going to cost nigh on 2000 grand - cheapest estimate from 4!! So, we did without and I had a lovely trip, even if it was too short, lol!

Re: in-porting from the USA

yes you can only have very small dogs in with you and they have to stay in a crate under a seat anyway so probably better for them in the hold.

Cant remember the name of the company (can find out) but zero issues at all when I imported my 2 chihuahuas from Alabama

Give us details Mrs, when are you thinking/have you found a breeder willing?

I would love to see another AKK import to help the gene pool, OH has given me persmission to do so in a few years if I can find a breeder
