Re: Phantom pregnancy

Sorry i can't help you as to how to tell whether pregnant or phantom,

Why are you unsure have you had her mated & not scanned?

My bitch has phantoms after her season she bags up & then produces bit of milk, i don't leave them with toys so never had the nesting. I know with her it's a phantom coz she hasn't been mated.

If you know or suspect she may have been mated then a trip to the vets for an examination or ultrasound is the only way to be more certain.

Many of the symtoms are common to both pregnancy & phantom apart from the actual having pups bit and feeling seeing pups move near the end couple of weeks.

Re: Phantom pregnancy

Thank you for your answers, we are fairly certain she has not mated but unfortunately she got out a couple of weeks ago and ran out of site for approx 10 minutes but as her season was at the end of October early November the dates don't add up it just seems really strange to have these symptoms showing now so really grateful for any advice anyone can offer thank you

Re: Phantom pregnancy

If her season was october - nov & she only got out a couple of weeks back she shouldn`t have been able to be pregnant. Phantoms can show up after a season about the time pups would have been due from her season so that would be about now I believe

Re: Phantom pregnancy

Thank you very much, that was what my initial instinct told me but being new to it all it is nice to have someone with a lot more experience back up my thoughts. We love Millie loads but the thought of a house full of miny Millies is a kind of scary thought. Hopefully it will pass soon and we can get her spayed so she doesn't have to go through all this again.
Thanks again
