Re: Should you breed from a dog...

I don't know anything about breeding but as a dog owner i would NOT buy a puppy if the mother was aggressive.

When I was looking for a shih tzu puppy I visited a litter and the mother dog was aggressive. I knew something was up as the puppies were only 3 weeks and the mother was not even with them. When i asked to see her they took me in another room. The mother dog growled barked and ran, hid under some units and her owners had to pull her out. I couldn't touch her as she was so fearful and showing teeth, making an awful rackett! Needless to say I didn't buy one of her pups.

Re: Should you breed from a dog...

Certainly not! Apart from the temperament, which can be passed on, this breed suffers from no end of potential health issues. See my page here:

The Bull Mastiff

Has she been tested for all the health issues she might have inherited? She may have lots of champions in her background, but she needs testing as well. A dog like this, the males of which have a natural dislike of other dogs anyway which needs handling with care, is going to have puppies which are extremely difficult to manage.

I hope for the dog's sake you manage to talk him out of such a reckless decision.
