Black lab puppies

Someone is selling these on FB, "Chunky black lab pups" Apparently they aren't a crossbreed. Is it me or does this pup look deformed?

Re: Black lab puppies

I've seen young Lab pups with fairly similar chunky faces, but FB is not the place to sell pups, and I hate that some folk equate chunky to equal quality.

It could certainly do with it's nails being cut - but other than that - deformed in what way they are just still very young pups

I thought it was just me who hated the word chunky, for some breeds I agree it might fit but others it just sounds odd to me. Like a chunky whippet, sounds like it is overweight but I admit it is just the image in my mind!

Since when did chunky begin to mean quality?

Probably about the same time 'babydoll faced', 'hello kitty faced' and 'micro' became great puppy's descriptive words .
I always think of a chunky pup as overweight- apart from the breeds where it fits!
Is that how a lab puppy looks when that young!? Then again, yorkies are mouse sized rotties when born, so I can see how it would happen!

That must have been after I left as I have only recently seen chunky used for all puppies regardless of breed. I have never heard of the other expressions you mentioned and I dread to think what they mean!

exactly how many such young Lab puppies have you actually seen

That's a Lab puppy I would guestimate probably around the 2/2.5 week mark whose eyes haven't fully opened yet (my first two litters didn't open their eyes until about 19 days (my last litter were eyes open and nearly fully weaned by 3 weeks.

Very young Lab Puppies (most definitely NOT crossed with anything)

My keeper from my last litter at about 3/4 weeks

Same pup a couple of months ago (2 years)
