Contracts

This may prove an interesting read (if you can see it)

Re: Contracts

Not had chance to read it through thoroughly, but my first impression is that if that's what an ABS member is like I don't want to be one!! Will read it later if I get chance, looks interesting.

Callia is on a distinguished road
Re: Contracts

What an interesting read.
Seems to be yet another case of a breeder trying to have complete control over a breed ( I think these matters are rarely done in the interest of the breed, it is all just a power thing and I believe this is one of the reasons some breeds are now on the vulnerable list.
I would always prefer a pet home for a puppy and endorse all registrations BUT they would certainly be removed if the dog proves itself to be a good example of the breed with a totally sound temperament and all health tests were in place. I feel its totally ridiculous that any reputable breeder would not do so.

Re: Contracts

Re: Contracts

I've known of this happening before. However, the KC did nothing about it although it was obvious. The only reason they've done anything here is because successful civil action was taken against the breeder.

With the greatest respect, there are far more non AB members having as many (if not more) litters than this - that's not saying it is right - but please don't tar all AB's with the same brush - ultimately - believe me when I say the alternative(s) to the AB scheme are far less palatable - and if people continue to vote with their feet, it could pave the way for 'other parties' to have more of a say, and believe me when I say this is not something anyone will want.

There are good non AB breeders and bad AB Breeders - the SAME caution should apply when someone is looking for a puppy - the assessors are now doing many visits to breeders when they have litters and won't issue new memberships before doing a visit if the breeder is a new one - and a fair few (more than a few actually) have been kicked off the scheme - it's just that not all of them make the front pages of the dog papers.
Blondie and Trojan like this.

I know that but that's the first impression the article gives, if you see what I mean? The number of dogs being bred, the arguments and lies that seem to be involved, hardly shouts *quality* as I'm sure the KC want it to. I was sort of commenting in a rush before dashing out on site this morning, and it was meant to read more along the lines of, if this is the sort of article Joe Public have to hand to judge the ABS on, then it doesn't show the scheme in a good light?? Does that make more sense now?? Probably stuck my foot in my mouth again and I'm just off out to get the girls out as I've seen Indie's boyfriend go walking past the window......
