My Schnauzer is due a season in March 2012 and im hoping to breed her so I am getting her BVA eye test up to date, This will be her 2nd and final litter. I live in kent and there is only place that the specialist visits that is relatively local to me. They have just informed me that the next visit date will be in 7 months time!!

Looks like im going to be doing the 100 mile round trip to get this done!

Anyway rant over... I was wondering if anyone had managed to get a von willebrands disease test as part of health testing? I have noticed on my breeds website that this can be condition that minitaure schanuzers can suffer. I approached my vet concerning this and he looked at me like I was mad as he had never heard of this condition. I have emailed the KC and my breeder to see if they can recommend anywhere that would provide testing but have not yet had a response. Just though Id ask to see if anyone could shed any light?

not sure where you are in kent but they do them on fairly regular basis at Lakeview vets in Deal;.

Thankyou, Deal is not too far from me, Im in Medway so certainly wouldnt mind going there, ill give them a ring as maybe they would know somewhere even closer.

Its a shame more places dont do the tests. I had a 140 mile round trip that took us over 5 hours for our eye test

I know wish there was a closer one too, the one in maidstone is only down the road but they only visit twice a year - aparently I just missed it...typical!

Yeah just called them, Michelle is away doing a breeders clinic today, She's back in at 8am in the morning so ill give her a ring then.

Thanks for the info. Ive got until March until her season but want to get all these bits sorted asap. Ive spent so much time researching the stud that times seems to have slipped away from me. Still if I cant get all the tests up-to-date in time ill wait for the next season.

There's one in Heathfield (E sussex) at the end of Dec which should be too far.
