Re: weaning

Usually my dams don't dry up until the pups leave- even with one litter of 7 she still had milk 12 weeks later. She may have more milk than you think is they're still gaining weight? it is a bit soon to wean yet, what is the mom getting to eat and drink- does she like the whelpi? It could help with mill production. What food is she on? Are they big pups?

And welcome to the forum!

Re: weaning

yea, yorkie pups are Very enthusiasic about food- especially from mum! a hungry pupppy will let you know about it- wont stop crying and loose weight and condition Very fast...
have you been trimming their nails? they get horribly pointy and as they pat at the mum to get the milk flowing, they can cut her to blazes- discouraging her from feeding them (even though she wants to). she will probably let them feed right up until the leave in 2 months time!
is she on a mother and babydog or puppy food and getting a little extra supplements throughout the day? i have always been told to give them one whole scrambled egg a day- it has the right levels of vitamin D and calcuim -along with extra protien- and they love it!
