Puppy or adult food?

My girl is 33 days pregnant and I usually put her onto a puppy food now, but just been reading a different thread regarding puppy/adult food and people mention that it is a sales gimmick and puppy food is no different to adult food, now I am confused !
My girl is a toy breed.

Re: Puppy or adult food?

hi, i went to vet today, my dog Maya gave birth to 10 pups on sunday, vet told me i should have had her on puppy kibble for last two weeks of pregnancy, in hindsight it was right as she didnt eat enough so maybe you should try it now, hope it goes well x

its so difficult we all try to do whats best, I think as long as they eat a decent amount of high protein food it is ok, I have stressed so much about my Mayas calorific intake and we still had 10 healthy strong pups

Re: Puppy or adult food?

I usually switch my girls onto a good quality puppy food at around 7 weeks - it's higher in fat and protein for them they need all the goodness they can get at this stage

I know I don't generally have a high opinion of puppy food - but make an exception for breeding and weaning my babies up to around 6 months
