Re: Is it hard to spot a bitches first season?

He has just rung to say she is being spayed tomorrow. Apparently the vet told him that while she may physically be able to have puppies it doesn't mean she is ready. The vet likened it to a 12 year old girl having a baby. Her body may be ready but mentally she wouldnt be.

My cousin is a bit upset because he is worried about her being so young and having a big operation. But he has said he will continue with his research and will hopefully get another staffy in a few years to show and breed

Well the alternative really isn't any better at all, GA's are much less of a risk for dogs these days, particularly young, fit and healthy ones. I'm relieved to hear he's seen sense and is having this done for her, fingers crossed he does a lot more research before going ahead with his next purchase in a few years' time
