Registering and chipping

I was going to register my pups today and see there is a box for micro chip number that will then appear on documents. My pups are not quite 5 weeks and will not be chipped for several more weeks yet.

I assume I will just have to register an not get the chip number on documents? What do you guys do? this is my first litter so apologies if its stupid question

Re: Registering and chipping

Some breeders have their litters chipped in the nest and then register them with the KC with their ID number.

Other breeders do not chip their dogs.

There is no rush to register them surely?

You can register them after you have had them chipped and then the new owners will need to get the number as well as the KC reg transferred into their name.

Simple

Re: Registering and chipping

I was wanting to register them so that all paperwork was on hand for new owners. I, personally, wouldn't collect a puppy without them

Re: Registering and chipping

Well you then have three choices, register them without the chip number, not chip them at all or you could have them tattood.

Re: Registering and chipping

If you register online, then the pups details will be displayed on your account, once they are chipped you can add their details, then when the new owners change ownership the microchip number will show on the new owners papers.
