seasons

hiya just wondering if any one can answer a few questions on dog seasons.

when i got lexi last year i had never owned a female dog befor only males so i had to read up on seasons ex her first season came when she was 10-11 months.

just noticed rio is bleeding today - she is now the same age as lexi was on her first - its not dripping or anything and no swelling yet is this normal? (i only noticed lexi was in season due to the swelling and the trail of blood that followed her )

also lexi is due her second season end of october but one person has said rio being in will make lexi have hers early however some one else said this is untrue - they both have more then one female- so which is it?

and do dogs get pain during their seasons? lexi never seemed to notice however rio has been crying a bit so wondered if she was in pain.

sorry for the questions

thanks for any help

Re: seasons

Are you sure there is no swelling?? Are her teats swollen?? I would be concerned about infection. Mine didn't bleed in the first season but were huge down below and black! It was a but gross lol

Never heard if them whining but it could be she's crying for a boyfriend! And yes expect your other one to come in after if she is in season

Re: seasons

Usually the swelling starts first accompanied by licking sometimes, then the bleeding usually starts, can be very soon after the swelling some dogs it will be longer. You can notice Behaviour changes at the start of the cycle too.
Some bitches will become stropy with other bitches too, or the bitch thats not in season can be stropy to the bitch that is, doesnt always happen of course but can, some bitches can even fight even if they love each other the rest of the time, so to be on the safe side I wouldnt leave them unattended at the moment in case. I have heard too and read that one bitch in heat can cause the other bitch to cycle too at the same time.

Of course if you have any doubts that it might not be a normal season then get it checked out, always better safe then sorry, Bitches can get infections prior and after a season starting, it happened to mine on her first season at 9mths, and the other I rescued at 15mths just as she was starting a season had a prolonged/infection on her season.
