not all, I keep an active interest in health tests required for all breeds, esp my own two.
Actual health matters I know you have helped GS more with lately

This link gives more info on PRA and Goldies - it's quite possible I've missed something on the site - Golden Doodles are being tested - but that's because of PRA in Poodles

OptiGen PRA testing for Golden Retrievers

Interesting point about Optigen, would you say only the tests sanctioned as such by them should be carried out?
Optigen do the prcdPRA for cresteds but not the PLL, which is done by AHT and thought equally important by the breeders that do them in the breed.

I found my golden breeder, by ringing people off the KC list and then they referred me to her, she had a bitch that had just been mated, as I was after a puppy in the next 4 months.

My next chinese crested will be from contacts in the show world. I am on one waiting list that could be years to bear fruit yet

GS is a good one to chat to as she has lots of knowledge of golden breeders in the country. She like goldens that are sort of between working and show, not white but not red and somewhere in the middle build wise

On that link I gave you, the Golden Retriever Breed Club council, there is load of advice about purchasing pups, code of ethics etc etc. Each Breed Club has a puppy list co-ordinator. You can look up on that site, the various golden retriever breed clubs and tracK down the various breed club Puppy list Co-ordinators. get Breed club/breed council member breeders and go from there. Some may even have their own websites too, so you can check out those and see what you think before contacting/Emailing them. It does warn on the Breed council website there may be a wait too.

Re: how can you be sure of hip score

I find the BRS very interesting and love to search the health test results of the litters bred in the Malamute (working) dogs. For Retrievers I believe you would want the Gun Dog group.

It's a quarterly magazine which shows all the pups registered with the KC for the previous quarter, it also shows results of health tests that have recently been submitted.

You can find a kennel name, maybe one you might like to have a pup from in the future, see if any litters have been registered and if so look up the sire and dams names on the KC health database to see if they have had health tests and what the results are.

I get mine simply to be nosey because I like to see what breeders have had litters, how many they've had over the year and what health tests have been done. It's an eye opener as to just how many dogs being bred don't have any health tests and a good way to steer clear of any from such breeders.
The Kennel Club

Nothing I like more than a good old nose through the BRS - right Sherlock Holmes I am, lol.

Re: how can you be sure of hip score

Champdogs do check the scores before they publish them on the web site - so checked with KC or they've seen the result sheets if owner gets them back and sends them before published on KC site, so if they're on Champdogs then they are right.

Noooo - sorry (missed this ) - apologies for any confusion -I think I was just commenting on Optigen owning most of the PRA Patents - you use whichever is the main company for the condition (and the one the KC take the results from) - in Labs, we use AHT for CNM and AHT are also looking at a number of other conditions.
