WOW

I thnk that speaks volumes

I am not saying that former owners shouldn't be taking responsibility, and realise that dogs get dumped, people die etc (as with the Welsh Springer I referred do) - sadly, it's the ones that do dump the dogs that have no conscience and I guess would say anything if asked just to 'get rid'

is the blood clotting disorder genetic out of curiosity? I 'think' there are some breeds where this is tested for? sorry if I am way off the mark on that one

I don't imagine for one minute it's an easy job, and I am keen to stress that I am desperately trying not to 'point the finger' at rescue - that is not my intention - my own involvement with rescue hasn't been extensive - I've paid many many visits over the years looking at the dogs, I've short term fostered and transported dogs, some of which have left me very saddened and distressed, so I can just imagine what it must be like for those actively involved on a regular basis
I am just really struggling to get my head around genuine people some of whom genuinely do get caught out through no fault of their own.
So many people also seem to think that the bitch's season has finished once she stops bleeding (and of course, for some bitches this is correct) - but for those that read the text book - this is when they are bang on for mating - and a mating can occur in the blink of an eye
From two intentional very brief slip matings between my own dog and bitch, whilst I will never know for sure, I am CONVINCED she caught and reabsorbed; if that had happened in the garden - there's every chance in the world I would have missed it - it does happen that slip matings go unmissed and occasionally pregnancies genuinely don't come to light until it is too late
