There has, is and always will be a huge demand for pet dogs, we are a nation of animal lovers and family dogs are intrinsic to our culture and social history and it actually makes me quite cross when people suggest that people shouldn't breed Pet Dogs.

Clearly their are issues in the Pet Breeding industry that need sorting out with better regulation but to suggest pet breeders just shouldn't exists is just wrong IMO. I have as much right to a "family" dog as someone has to their Champion, Best of Breed one
This is what I would class Prince's breeder as, a pet breeder.
She bred from her family pets, they are all KC reg, and she bred from KC reg sires. I went to her home, seen the set up, everything was great, met the mother, and her other Bichons who she clearly loved, the place was clean and tidy and I had no problems buying from her as I was looking a pet dog, not a show dog.
I think having joined this site and learnt a few things I would be a bit more scrupulous about where I get my next dog, but Prince so far is a great example of his breed in terms of temperament and appearance although I'm aware that him being still a puppy I can't know these things for sure.
There is absolutely a place for 'pet' breeders, but naturally there's a need to follow guidelines for the sake of the dogs health and happiness.
