my chihuahua

She had 3 gorgeous puppies this morning. My only concern is that her last pup was born at 11.20am, she still has a hard lump in her belly which feels like a puppy. How long should you wait and see if your bitch is going to give birth to more? She doesn't seem stressed at all. She has been asleep for a while on and off. I am going to take her to the vets for a check up, but just want to make sure she has had them all first.

Re: my chihuahua

thankyou for the replies, yes they are all white like the dad, one of the girls is huge, the other girl is teeny, half her size and the boy is an inbetweeny. The smallest is mine! My boyfriend saved it from bleeding to death as mummy bit the cord too much, so some cotton tied round it had to stop the bleeding. She's ok now though.

I have called the vets, and they are going to ring me back and discuss what's going to happen.

Re: my chihuahua

Hi all

well it's good news but not for my bank account lol. I took my girl to the vets at 6 o clock last night, the vet had a good feel and said she thought it could well be a puppy stilll inside her so she had an oxytocin injection and we waited at the vets for an hour to see if anything happened ( as we are half an hours drive from the vets). Nothing happened so they said she needs a c-section to get the pup out. Half an hour later they tell me they haven't done a section because they x-rayed first and there was definately no puppy. So they said see how she goes and we took her back today for another check up and the vet said it was a build up of poo.............But my girl is well. Better safe than sorry, although my wallet is £300 lighter!
