With some breeds, 7-8 weeks is the optimum time to choose for conformation. This age gives the clearest picture of what the pup will look like as an adult.

For a cross breed, just make sure you choose a healthy, confident and outgoing pup that isn't constantly on the move (unless that's what you want!!). Look for a puppy that is inquisitive and curious, one that approaches people and strange objects with confidence Alert and attentive, but not aggressive.
